Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been named the ICC Player of the Month for April. He achieved this feat with 116 runs and 15 wickets. Only two other cricketers from Bangladesh had achieved this before — Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim. Now, Miraz’s name is etched alongside theirs.
Speaking to the ICC after the achievement, Miraz said, “Becoming the ICC Player of the Month is an incredible honor. Receiving an ICC award is the ultimate recognition for any cricketer, and getting it through a global vote means a lot to me.”
This award reminded him of another milestone — being the Player of the Tournament in the 2016 ICC U-19 World Cup. Reflecting on that memory, he said, “These moments remind me of my entire journey. Being named the best player in the 2016 ICC U-19 World Cup was a major achievement early in my career. Winning this award feels just as special.”
He shared that the award will inspire him to perform even better in the future. “I’m truly thrilled. This award will be a great motivation for me to give my best and contribute to Bangladesh’s success on the world stage. As cricketers, we dream of making an impact and bringing joy to our fans. Receiving such recognition from the ICC will encourage me to perform even better and more consistently. I want to thank my teammates, coaches, and fans — this award is theirs too.”
