BFF Plans Major Initiative for Grassroots Football Development

The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is making major plans to boost grassroots football in the country. BFF President Tabith Awal revealed this during the inauguration of Grassroots Football Day and World Football Week at 11:00 am on Friday at the Shamsul Huda Football Academy in Jashore.

During the event, Argentine Ambassador Marcelo Carlos Cesa inaugurated the “Bhasha Sainik Musa Building” of the Shamsul Huda Football Academy by releasing balloons. Since the last FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Argentina has received immense love from Bangladeshi fans, and the ambassador himself came to witness grassroots footballers in Bangladesh.

Tabith Awal stated, “We want what the Shamsul Huda Football Academy is doing to help develop football from the village level. We want more such grounds to improve football. We aim to develop footballers from the grassroots.” Over 600 footballers participated in the Grassroots Football Day and World Football Week — a significant milestone.

The BFF president further added that the federation is associated with 222 academies across the country, supporting each one in various ways. “We have many players spread across the grassroots level. Our goal is to provide them with proper training and help them grow into skilled footballers,” he said.

Speaking to local journalists, chief guest Mr. Marcelo Carlos Cesa remarked, “Football is played in Bangladesh with great enthusiasm and excitement. People from all walks of life — rich or poor, young or old — come to the field to watch matches. The joy of football is shared by all. I firmly believe football will see great success in Bangladesh.”
