Brook Makes History with IPL Ban!

English star Harry Brook has been banned from the IPL for two years—not due to fixing or rule violations, but for withdrawing his name from the auction for two consecutive seasons. He is the first cricketer to be banned under the new rule implemented by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

A BCCI official told India Today, “Harry Brook withdrew his name from this year’s IPL. As a result, the English batter has been banned from the next IPL as well. Even if he wishes to play in the next edition, he won’t be allowed.”

The BCCI had previously announced this rule: if a player secures a team in the auction but later withdraws, they will face a two-season ban.

Brook explained that he is preparing for a crucial phase in his international career and, therefore, cannot participate in the IPL.
