Bangladesh kept their Super Four hopes alive by defeating Afghanistan. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul was delighted with the victory, but even more pleased with the team’s tactical adjustments.
Speaking to the media in Mirpur yesterday, the BCB President said, “I noticed some strategic changes in the team. We are not directly involved in these — that’s done by the team management. But the way those changes worked out was truly commendable. Overall, the team played brilliantly (against Afghanistan).”
Bulbul pointed out that Rishad Hossain’s bowling was the turning point of the match. He said, “Taskin and Nasum bowled well. But the way Rishad bowled wicket-to-wicket in his two spells was outstanding. His bowling clearly reflected tactical adjustments.”
Bangladesh’s fate now depends on the outcome of the match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. On this, the BCB President commented, “We have won two out of three matches. The boys are playing well. Hopefully, Insha’Allah, we can reach the Super Four.”
However, he also highlighted some weaknesses in the team — particularly the dip in scoring rate between overs 7–14 and 14–18. He said, “If we can maintain momentum during those phases, we can easily score 190–200 runs. Even yesterday, we could have reached 190.”
