After being suspended for nearly a week due to the Pakistan-India conflict, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has finally resumed. However, the tournament’s streak of misfortunes continues. Following the war, COVID-19 has now struck the IPL. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s star batter Travis Head has tested positive for the virus.
As a result, he will not be available for the match against Lucknow. Not only that, he will also be unable to travel with the team to the venue. This was confirmed by Hyderabad’s coach, Daniel Vettori.
Vettori stated, “Head has tested positive for COVID-19, so he won’t be traveling. We hope to have him back for the next match. But first, we need to assess whether he fully recovers and is fit enough to play.”
Last season’s finalist, Hyderabad, is already out of the playoff race. Their match against Lucknow is now just a fight for pride. On the other hand, it’s a must-win for Rishabh Pant’s team to stay in contention. Even if they win all their remaining matches and reach 16 points, a playoff spot is still not guaranteed.
