On Saturday, June 7, the holy festival of Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated across the country. The national team cricketers were on leave for the occasion. However, they don’t have much time to rest, as the Sri Lanka tour is just around the corner. The full series against Sri Lanka is set to begin on June 17, starting with a two-match Test series. The Bangladesh team will depart for Sri Lanka on June 13.
As a result, players like Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz have returned to the field right after the Eid break. The training camp began today (Monday) at 2 PM at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The coaching staff have been present with the players since the start of the session.
The training camp will continue tomorrow as well. On Wednesday and Thursday, two red-ball practice matches will be held. These matches will feature players from the national Test team and the Bangladesh ‘A’ team facing off against each other.
Following these preparations, the Tigers will fly to the island nation of Sri Lanka. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has already announced a 16-member squad for the Test series. Fast bowler Ebadot Hossain has returned to the team after nearly two years, recovering from injury. Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead the side as captain, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz serving as vice-captain.
