End of a 25-year journey: Müller to leave Bayern

Thomas Müller has been playing for Bayern Munich for 25 years. Now, the German striker is set to bring this long chapter to an end. He has confirmed that he will leave Bayern at the end of the current season.

Müller’s journey began in 2000 when he joined Bayern’s academy. He made his senior debut in 2008, and now, in 2025, that journey is coming to a close. Over this long period, Müller has made a record 743 appearances in a Bayern jersey.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday (April 5), Müller said,
“The club does not want to offer me a new contract for next season. Although this does not align with my personal wishes, I respect the club’s decision.”

In a club statement, the German striker also shared his feelings,
“Today is not just another day for me. After 25 years as a Bayern Munich player, my journey will come to an end this summer. It has been an incredible journey, filled with unique experiences, fantastic battles, and unforgettable victories.”

Müller first played for Bayern’s senior team in the 2008–09 season. Over the past 17 seasons, he has been a part of all of Bayern’s successes. During this time, Müller scored a total of 247 goals in 743 matches, including 150 goals in the Bundesliga.

With Bayern, he has won 12 Bundesliga titles, 6 German Cups, 8 German Super Cups, 2 UEFA Champions League titles, 2 UEFA Super Cups, and 2 FIFA Club World Cups.
