Bangladesh football fans expressed their frustration when Fahmidul Islam was left out of the national team. Many suspected that he was excluded due to internal syndicates, sparking protests and demonstrations. Some fans even directly addressed their concerns with Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Tabith Awal.
Meanwhile, a local media outlet reported that Fahmidul’s exclusion was due to a conflict with goalkeeper Mehedi Hasan Shraban. According to the report, Fahmidul’s impressive performances in training became a problem for him. It was alleged that Shraban repeatedly refused to pass him the ball during practice, leading to tensions. Fahmidul, frustrated by the situation, brought the issue to the coach’s attention, questioning the behavior. However, coach Cabrera reportedly dismissed the concerns, and eventually, Fahmidul was dropped from the squad.
After this report surfaced, social media was flooded with criticism against Shraban, with fans mocking and targeting him. In response, Fahmidul took to Facebook to clarify the situation and stand by Shraban.
On Friday (March 21), Fahmidul wrote in his post:
“I have noticed that some internal matters from the field have spread through the media. Unfortunately, different kinds of information are being circulated, and not all of them are entirely true. In sports, misunderstandings can happen, but they should remain within the team, as every player is dedicated to the game and the country.”
He further added:
“Mehedi Hasan Shraban has represented Bangladesh with dedication and hard work for a long time. He is a professional athlete who has always given his best for the team. No player deserves mockery or threats, especially from fans, who should be their biggest source of motivation.”
