“Finally, we are organizing the ACC meeting in Bangladesh with participation from all countries: Bulbul”

For the past few days, the focus of discussion had been the hosting of the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Dhaka. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had threatened to boycott the meeting unless the venue was changed. Reportedly, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka were also considering boycotting the ACC meeting. However, the situation took a turn yesterday, when it was revealed that India would participate in the meeting as well.

Meanwhile, a representative from the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has arrived in Dhaka to attend the ACC AGM. In addition, officials from the cricket boards of Sri Lanka and Nepal, like India, will join the meeting online. This information was confirmed by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul.

Speaking to the media, the BCB chief said, “We are hosting the ACC meeting in Bangladesh. Taking on the responsibility of hosting, we’ve been able to persuade everyone. For the sake of cricket, all parties are participating. Those who are unable to attend in person will join online. Among the full members, Afghanistan is arriving tonight (yesterday), while Sri Lanka and India have informed that they will participate online.”

Regarding relations with the Indian cricket board, Bulbul said, “Our relationship with the BCCI has always been good—and still is. As you know, we have postponed the series. Both boards have coordinated to find a mutually convenient time. I have personally been in contact with BCCI both yesterday and today. Since our relationship has always been good, we intend to maintain that.”

A final decision regarding the upcoming Asia Cup may be made during this ACC meeting. The six-team tournament is supposed to be hosted by India, but Pakistan is unwilling to travel there to play. Due to this complication, the ACC has yet to announce the schedule or venue for the Asia Cup.
