Foreign Players of Durbar Rajshahi Unable to Return Home Due to Unpaid Salaries

Durbar Rajshahi’s journey in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has come to an end, but controversies continue to surround the team. The franchise has repeatedly made headlines over payment issues, and its foreign players are yet to receive their full salaries. Due to the lack of flight tickets, they are also unable to return to their respective countries. A source from the team has confirmed the matter.

On Sunday (February 2), five foreign cricketers—Ryan Burl, Mohammad Haris, Aftab Alam, Mark Deyal, and Miguel Cummins—found themselves stranded in their hotel as they had no flights booked for their return.

However, Durbar Rajshahi announced in the afternoon that arrangements were being made for the players to leave for their respective countries starting today. Additionally, the team’s Pakistani coach, Ejaz Ahmed, is expected to leave Bangladesh by tomorrow.

From the start of BPL 2024, Rajshahi has been entangled in financial controversies. Their foreign players even threatened to boycott matches due to unpaid wages. The franchise also faced multiple incidents of bounced checks, adding to the turmoil.
