The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has found evidence of suspicious transactions amounting to nearly Tk 800 crore involving former Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon and his wife. Additionally, the ACC has discovered undeclared assets worth around Tk 32 crore. Two separate cases have been filed against the couple by the ACC.
On Monday afternoon, the ACC’s Director General Akhtar Hossain confirmed the matter to the media at the commission’s office. The cases were filed separately by ACC Deputy Director Saiduzzaman.
The ACC stated that under Papon’s leadership, there are ongoing investigations into major allegations of embezzlement in various sectors, including the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), stadium construction, ICC global tournaments, and the hiring of foreign coaches.
Recently, the ACC conducted a raid at the BCB office in Mirpur in relation to these allegations and uncovered various irregularities. Recommendations have already been made to the commission to take action against the accused.
