Gill – ICC Player of the Month!

On Tuesday (August 12), the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the names of the best male and female cricketers of the previous month in a statement.

In July, Gill played three Tests. During India’s tour of England, he scored 567 runs in six innings of those three Tests, including one double century and two centuries, at an average of 94.50. He also set several new records during this time. As a result, Gill was named ICC Player of the Month.

It is the fourth time that India’s Test captain Shubman Gill has won the ICC Player of the Month award. He beat England’s Ben Stokes and South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder to claim the July honor. This series also marked Gill’s debut as a Test captain. Delighted to win the award for the fourth time, Gill said, “I’m really happy to be named ICC Player of the Month for July. This award means a lot more this time because I earned it with my batting performances in my very first Test series as captain.”

He further added, “I will always remember the double century in Birmingham, and that innings was the most important one during the England tour.”

Previously, Gill won the Player of the Month award in February this year, and in January and September of 2023.
