“GOAT Tour of India” – Messi finally coming to India

After much speculation, discussions, and controversies, Lionel Messi is finally coming to India on a three-day visit. The Argentine World Cup-winning captain’s India tour has been named the “GOAT Tour of India 2025.” Although a few days ago, the Argentina Football Association canceled the trip citing breach of promises, Indian media have now confirmed that Messi will set foot in India for the second time on December 12. During his visit, he is also expected to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On December 12, Messi will arrive in Kolkata, marking his return to India after 14 years. Back in 2011, Argentina played a friendly match against Venezuela at Salt Lake Stadium, where Messi also featured. This time, however, he won’t be at Salt Lake but at Eden Gardens, where the “God Concert” and “God Cup” will take place. Former Indian cricket team captain and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly will also be present at the event.

On December 13, Messi will travel to Ahmedabad to attend a private program organized by the Adani Foundation. Then, on December 14, he will be in Mumbai for a meet-and-greet event at CCI Brabourne, followed by another God Concert and the God Cup at Wankhede Stadium. Messi is also expected to take part in a friendly cricket match alongside celebrities such as Shah Rukh Khan and Leander Paes.

Finally, on December 15, Messi will travel to Delhi, where he will attend the concluding God Concert and God Cup at Feroz Shah Kotla. Before leaving India, he will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
