England-based footballer Hamza Choudhury has arrived in Dhaka ahead of the Asian Cup qualifier match against Singapore. Although Hamza was scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:30 AM on Monday (June 2), a flight delay caused him to arrive at 10:55 AM. After arriving in the morning, the defensive midfielder joined the team’s practice session later in the afternoon.
Following a few hours of rest at the hotel after arriving in the morning, Hamza came to the national stadium for training at 5 PM. This was his first-ever training session at the national stadium. Like yesterday, coach Javier Cabrera kept the session closed to the media. However, a few federation officials and stadium personnel were present during the training.
Hamza has already made his debut for Bangladesh, but he is yet to play on home soil. The match against Singapore will mark the first time the expatriate footballer plays in Bangladesh wearing the national jersey.
The Bangladesh national football team began their camp for the Asian Cup qualifier on May 30. On that day, 24 out of 26 players reported to the camp. This morning, Hamza joined the camp from England. On the morning of the day after tomorrow, Samit Som will arrive from Canada.
