This year, the Third Division Qualifiers will take place with 60 teams. On Saturday at 11:30 AM, BCB President Faruk Ahmed will inaugurate the tournament, which is set to begin on March 10. Citizen Bank is sponsoring this year’s qualifiers, contributing 3 million BDT for the tournament. This announcement was made yesterday during a press conference at the BCB premises.
CCDM (Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis) Vice-President Masuduzzaman expressed his excitement as the tournament is being held in such a grand manner after a long time. In previous years, the Third Division Qualifiers were not conducted with such prominence. Instead, BCB hurriedly completed the tournament in a nominal manner. However, under Faruk Ahmed’s leadership, the board has taken a different approach this time.
Masuduzzaman stated yesterday, “With my 25-30 years of experience in the cricketing world, I can confidently say that everyone will see this tournament as a milestone. We have been planning this tournament for many years, but it was never implemented. In the past, we tried in various ways to convince the BCB, but I won’t dwell on why it didn’t happen before. I am a dreamer, I love to dream, and I want to dream. The current board and the BCB president have understood that dream. The vision that CCDM had is now becoming a reality.”
