In Saint Vincent, after losing the toss and being sent to bat first, Bangladesh faced batting struggles and managed only a modest total. Thanks to Shamim Hossain’s brilliant 35 runs off 17 balls at number eight, the Tigers posted a fighting total of 129/7 in 20 overs. Shamim had also contributed with a quick 27 off 13 balls in the first match.
After being whitewashed in the ODI series, Bangladesh made a remarkable comeback. The Tigers secured the T20I series against the West Indies with one match to spare. After a 7-run victory in the first match, Bangladesh sealed the series with a 27-run win in the second T20I. It marked Bangladesh’s first T20I series win against the West Indies in six years, and captain Litton Das expressed that the whole country is delighted with this achievement.
Defending a target of 130, the Bangladeshi bowlers displayed exceptional performance. Their disciplined line and length, coupled with timely wickets, ensured a dominant win for Bangladesh. West Indies were bowled out for just 102 runs with 9 balls remaining.
Pleased with the team’s performance, Litton said after the match, “I am very happy. Not just me, the entire nation of Bangladesh is happy. We were looking forward to such a victory.”
Litton praised Shamim’s innings, saying, “When I faced the first ball, batting was very tough. Thanks to Shamim, he batted really well.”
He also credited the bowlers for the victory, adding, “The bowlers deserve credit. Whenever we needed a wicket, whoever came to bowl delivered it. It was truly a team effort. We were in a good flow at that time.”
