“I Was Never Happy There (at PSG), Neither in Training Nor in Matches” – Messi

In 2021, due to financial difficulties, Argentine superstar Lionel Messi was forced to leave his beloved club, Barcelona. After leaving the Catalan club, he joined PSG on a free transfer. During his time at the French club, the Argentine captain won two Ligue 1 titles. However, he failed to win the Champions League with them.

Until now, Messi had never openly spoken about his time at PSG. But for the first time, he has described his experience at the club. Although PSG wanted to renew his contract for the 2023-24 season, he did not accept their offer. After leaving PSG, Messi stated that he wanted to join a club where he could play in his own way. For this reason, he chose the American club Inter Miami for the 2023-24 season. As he wished, he is now playing there freely and without pressure.

Speaking about his departure from PSG and his move to Inter Miami, Messi said, “Coming to play for Inter Miami was a great opportunity, especially considering how complicated things were becoming during my final year in Paris. That’s why I had to make a quick decision because I had to leave Barcelona. I spent two years in Paris, but I didn’t enjoy it at all.”
