“I will not contest the election; I have only come to fulfill a responsibility” – Aminul Islam Bulbul

Experienced professional Aminul Islam Bulbul couldn’t turn down his country’s call. He has returned home to take on the role of President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). From the very beginning, his message was clear – this would be a short stint, a “T20 innings.” And stepping into that innings, he set a bold target: a triple century. His vision is built on three pillars – 100% belief, 100% planning, and 100% achievement.

With his unique outlook, Bulbul has defined three key initiatives.
First, to update the soul of cricket.
Second, to implement a high-performance policy not just for players but also among BCB staff – aiming to build a management structure that equally values both on-field and off-field efficiency.
Third, to strongly expand regional cricket. For years, the lack of a structured regional cricket system in Bangladesh has been a topic of discussion. Bulbul now aims to turn that discussion into reality.

The BCB president’s position is one of the most prestigious in Bangladesh’s sports arena. But Bulbul has consistently maintained that he is here not for the chair, but to work. Recently, he traveled to Australia for family reasons. Before leaving, he once again stated, “I will not contest the election. I have only come to fulfill a responsibility. Elections will take place at the right time.” The BCB elections are expected to be held by October. That will also mark the end of Bulbul’s temporary innings.

Standing at a crucial juncture of his term, he is also planning for the country’s most popular franchise tournament – the BPL. In his words, “The last BPL wasn’t that good.” That’s why preparations for the upcoming BPL are being carried out with a focus on transparency and professionalism. Bulbul himself has said, “The BPL team is working tirelessly.”

He knows time is short. That’s why, from the outset, he declared, “I will play a quick T20 innings.” He came with a set timeline and clear goals. As a former captain and the scorer of Bangladesh’s first-ever Test century, Bulbul’s vision clearly reflects transparency, development, and decentralization.
