Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal — two of the brightest stars in Bangladesh cricket. They were once close friends, but cracks eventually formed in their relationship, leading to a very public falling out. Despite that, Tamim has now openly admitted in a recent interview with a national daily that Shakib is, in his opinion, the greatest sportsperson in the history of Bangladesh.
Tamim said, “The truth must be told. And this isn’t the first time I’m saying it — if you have to name one sportsperson from Bangladesh, it has to be Shakib Al Hasan. There’s no denying that. What he has achieved in cricket is unbelievable. Whatever our personal relationship may be, the trutplay together anymore, I still believe that together, we can take Bangladesh cricket to greater heights,” said Tamim.
