IPL – The ‘Biggest Stage’ for Match-Fixing Allegations

On April 16, Rajasthan Royals lost to Delhi Capitals in a Super Over in the IPL. Then, on April 19, they suffered another narrow 2-run defeat against Lucknow Super Giants. In both matches, Rajasthan had opportunities to win, but eventually lost — leading to match-fixing allegations raised by Jaydeep Bihani.

Former Pakistani pacer Tanvir Ahmed has called the Indian Premier League (IPL) the “biggest stage” for match-fixing. According to him, this franchise-based T20 league in India is the prime platform where such incidents occur.

Earlier, similar accusations were made by Jaydeep Bihani, the convenor of the ad hoc committee of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).

According to a report by Indian media, Royal Challengers Bangalore might have made these allegations due to receiving fewer IPL tickets than usual from Rajasthan.

A report published in the Times of India stated that RCB received fewer tickets this season than they typically do in the IPL. This reduction could be the main reason behind the discontent of the state cricket body.
