Jyoti Aims for Strong Batting to Secure World Cup Spot

The Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers will be held in Pakistan, where Bangladesh’s women’s cricket team will compete to secure their place in the 2025 World Cup. The qualifiers are scheduled to take place in Lahore from April 5 to 19. The Tigresses will depart for Pakistan on Thursday, April 3.

On Wednesday, April 2, Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti spoke to the media at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur. She highlighted the team’s preparation, stating, “We regularly play against Pakistan. In comparison, we face West Indies less frequently, but we recently played against them. Before facing them, however, we will play against Thailand and Scotland.”

Jyoti emphasized the importance of strong batting performances, saying, “If we can build momentum early on, it will be beneficial for us.”

Regarding the team’s preparation, she added, “We have done everything within our capacity. Practicing during Ramadan was tough, but we even trained under floodlights because we have two day-night matches. Everyone is very serious, and even today, we are practicing. So far, I would say our preparation has been good. We will also play a practice match after arriving in Pakistan. I believe the team will be fully ready before the tournament starts.”

Jyoti also acknowledged the significance of qualifying for the World Cup. She expressed that playing in the tournament would be an even bigger joy than celebrating Eid, stating, “We all understand how crucial this tournament is for our team. When a team participates in a major ICC event, it gets recognized differently. Playing in the ODI World Cup would open up various opportunities from the ICC. It would be a huge milestone in our careers.”
