Liton’s century and Mushfiqur’s missed double hundred – can Bangladesh still reach 500?

Bangladesh started the second day with dominance. Despite rain interruptions, Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das kept the runs flowing. But after Mushfiq’s dismissal, the collapse began. With 458 runs for 4 wickets, now even reaching 500 has become difficult for the Tigers.

In Galle, during the first Test of the series on Tuesday (June 17), Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first against Sri Lanka. Due to rain interruptions and later bad light, the second day’s play ended early. After 151 overs, Bangladesh stands at 484 runs for 9 wickets. The Tigers lost their last 5 wickets for just 26 runs. Both Liton and Mushfiq missed out on a century and a double century respectively. Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Rana remain unbeaten at the crease, both yet to score.
