Markram: “I Never Thought We Would Win the Series So Easily in Bangladesh”

The South African cricket team has claimed victory in a two-match Test series during their tour of Bangladesh. After winning both Tests, South Africa’s captain Aiden Markram remarked that he never expected to win the Chattogram Test in just three days.

At the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Bangladesh lost the match with a total of 16 wickets falling, scoring only 302 runs across both innings. South Africa scored 575 runs in their first innings, leading to an innings and 273-run victory.

This marks South Africa’s largest victory in their Test history, surpassing their previous record of an innings and 254 runs against Bangladesh in Bloemfontein in 2017.

Following the series win, Markram stated, “I never thought we would win so quickly. We were mentally prepared to play until the end of the fifth day. I never expected to be here at the post-match press conference today. However, thanks to our exceptional bowling performance over a long period, we are in this position now.”

Markram further added, “We knew the series wouldn’t be easy, but we were fortunate to create pressure on them with some outstanding performances. This is a matter of pride for all of us, and this success will bring us joy in the days ahead.”
