Bangladesh went into the final match of the series against Sri Lanka U-19 with a lead, but the game was ultimately abandoned due to rain. As a result, Azizul Haque Tamim’s team won the six-match series 3-2.
On Thursday (May 8), in the final match held in Colombo, the Young Tigers won the toss and opted to bat first. The game progressed for 39.1 overs before rain interrupted play. After a continuous three-hour downpour, the match was called off.
Earlier, opener Jawad Abrar was dismissed without scoring. After that, Kalam Siddiqui Alin and Tamim tried to steady the innings. Although Alin got set, he couldn’t capitalize and was dismissed for 31. Meanwhile, captain Tamim continued to fight with the bat.
Later, Tamim partnered with Rizan Hossain to keep the scoreboard ticking. With fluent batting, the Young Tigers’ skipper reached his half-century and was well on his way to a century before getting out for 94. After his dismissal, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Abdullah joined Rizan to carry the innings forward. Rizan remained on 48 while Abdullah was unbeaten on 5 when the match was halted.
