Mehidy Hasan Miraz Named Captain of Bangladesh National Team

Ahead of the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially announced Mehidy Hasan Miraz as the new captain of the ODI team. With Najmul Hossain Shanto currently sidelined due to injury, Miraz had already led the national team in four ODIs as an interim captain. Today, he has been formally recognized as the 17th ODI captain of Bangladesh. The all-rounder will lead the team in the three-match series during the Sri Lanka tour.

Following Shanto’s decision to step down from limited-overs captaincy, the BCB appointed Litton Das as the T20 captain. According to BCB sources, Miraz is likely to be handed the leadership role for a one-year term. Back in December, he captained the team during Shanto’s absence due to injury.

The Bangladesh team will play the three-match ODI series under Miraz’s leadership during the upcoming Sri Lanka tour. Starting with this tour, Bangladesh will once again have three different captains for the three formats after a long time.
