Miraz to Play in a Foreign Franchise League for the First Time

The wait was for the no-objection certificate (NOC). Now that it’s granted, there’s no barrier left for Mehidy Hasan Miraz to play for Lahore Qalandars. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise had earlier signed Shakib Al Hasan midway through the tournament. Now, they’ve called up another Bangladeshi all-rounder, Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has granted Miraz the NOC to participate in the PSL playoffs, valid from May 22 to May 25. The BCB confirmed this in a statement on Monday (May 19). Earlier that morning, Miraz applied to the BCB for the NOC to play in the PSL. The news of his application was confirmed to the media by Shahriar Nafees, the BCB’s Cricket Operations Manager. By the afternoon, the country’s cricket governing body had issued the NOC to Miraz.

Although the Bangladesh national team is currently playing a T20 series in the UAE, Miraz is not part of the squad. He has never played in a foreign league before. It is reported that Lahore Qalandars have released Sikandar Raza, and Miraz has been brought in as his replacement. With the NOC secured, this will be the first time the Bangladeshi all-rounder will play in an overseas franchise league.
