Mehidy Hasan Miraz has equaled a 11-year-old record previously held by former world number one all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. Miraz scored a century in Bangladesh’s first innings, helping the team post a substantial total. This was his second century in Test cricket, and with it, the Tigers’ all-rounder has reached a significant milestone.
Just when it seemed that Bangladesh wouldn’t be able to secure a big lead against Zimbabwe, Miraz rose to the occasion. First forming a partnership with Taijul Islam and then with Tanzim Sakib, he guided Bangladesh to a strong total in the first innings and ensured a sizable lead for the team.
Against Zimbabwe, Miraz scored his second career century today. With this performance, he has also become the 26th cricketer in Test history to achieve both 2,000 runs and 200 wickets. Among Bangladeshi cricketers, he is only the second to reach this double milestone—after Shakib Al Hasan.
Additionally, Miraz has reached another notable achievement. He is now the ninth Bangladeshi batsman to score 2,000 runs in Test cricket.
