Mahmudullah has bid farewell to international cricket, while Mushfiqur Rahim has stepped away from limited-overs formats and is now only active in Test cricket. According to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official Aminul Islam Bulbul, both cricketers have expressed interest in becoming international coaches after their playing careers.
Before Aminul joined the BCB, both Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur had already reached out to him seeking guidance on how to pursue a coaching career. Speaking to the media on Sunday, the newly appointed BCB official revealed this information.
He said, “Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah contacted me even before I joined the BCB. They want to become international coaches. We aim to launch educational training programs through the cricket board to support this.”
Many former Bangladeshi cricketers are now involved in coaching. Most recently, former cricketer Hannan Sarkar coached Abahani Limited, the champions of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL). In addition, Khaled Mahmud Sujon, Rajin Saleh, Talha Jubair, Hannan Sarkar, and Mohammad Ashraful have also stepped into coaching roles. However, none of them have yet gained experience coaching at the highest level of international cricket.
