“Mushfiq: The Idol of the Young Generation”He will remain an ideal name for future cricketers.

National team’s assistant selector Habibul Bashar Sumon has stated that Mushfiqur Rahim is the idol of the young generation. The former national team captain mentioned that Mushfiqur Rahim has set a great example for the upcoming cricketers.

Mushfiqur Rahim announced his retirement from One Day International (ODI) cricket on Wednesday night. Following his announcement, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expressed heartfelt gratitude for his outstanding contributions. BCB thanked him for elevating the country’s cricket to a remarkable height after an illustrious two-decade-long career.

During his cricketing journey of 18 years and 202 days, Mushfiqur played 274 ODIs, scoring 7,795 runs, which included 9 centuries and 49 fifties.

Speaking about the recently retired star batsman, Habibul Bashar Sumon said, “Mushfiq was technically very sound from the beginning. Despite his small stature, he used to hit big sixes even back then. His favorite shot, the slog sweep, was exceptional from an early stage. His batting technique was excellent, which is why he was included in the 2005 England tour. Even there, his technique was widely discussed.”

The former national captain also stated that having Mushfiq in the team was always an advantage. “He was almost like having an all-rounder, which allowed us to include an extra batsman or bowler. Because of Mushfiq’s presence, Bangladesh always had an edge.”
