“My Goal and Intention Are One – The Country and Its Cricket”

Faruk Ahmed has completed six months as the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). During this period, he has faced several challenges, with the biggest one being the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

A couple of franchises had issues with player payments, but overall, this year’s BPL was relatively more successful than previous editions. Particularly, ticket sales generated significant revenue, the tournament saw a flood of runs, and fan demand was high.

Faruk Ahmed’s next plan is to introduce a welfare fund and establish a pension system. Since taking over as BCB president, he has been working on a welfare foundation.

Yesterday, at an event in Mirpur hosted by former cricketer Javed Omar Belim, Faruk Ahmed stated:

“My goal and intention are one – the country and its cricket. I see nothing beyond that. Those who have known me for a long time are aware that I always think carefully before making decisions. If something doesn’t turn out as planned, anyone can ask me about it, and I will have an answer. There can always be debates over different matters, but I never act without understanding. That is how I work. I am trying my best to bring improvements. There will be ups and downs, but I will always give my utmost effort.”
