The ongoing tension within the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) surfaced again as Nazmul Abedin Fahim, a director of the board and a veteran coach, expressed frustration over the behavior of BCB President Faruk Ahmed. Fahim hinted at stepping down from his position due to this issue.
In an interview with a private TV channel, Jamuna, Fahim acknowledged that he was a victim of inappropriate behavior by the board president. While he did not disclose the exact remarks, he shared his disappointment:
“There was a comment… I don’t want to specify what it was, but it deeply disappointed me. It made me feel that perhaps the cricket board or the president does not have confidence in me at the moment.”
Fahim elaborated on the incident, saying:
“I don’t know why the president made such comments about me. It was surprising and unexpected, especially because it happened in front of many people, including officials from the ministry.”
The seasoned coach and cricket organizer further hinted at his dissatisfaction with his role in the board, stating:
“Sometimes I feel it might be better not to be part of the board. From outside, I can contribute and express my thoughts freely, which seems difficult from within. If I remain in the board, I must work. If I can’t work, it’s better to stay out.”
Fahim also raised concerns about the lack of freedom in his role within the board, saying that it limits his ability to perform effectively. Known as a mentor to players like Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, Fahim’s comments highlight a growing discontent within the board.
