New Zealand Sets Record After Record in the Champions Trophy

New Zealand delivered a stunning performance in the Champions Trophy semifinal today, posting a massive 362/6 against South Africa. This is now the highest team total in a knockout match in Champions Trophy history. Additionally, this incredible innings saw New Zealand claim several records.

Their score is also the third-highest total in an ICC ODI tournament knockout match. The highest remains India’s 397/4 in the 2023 World Cup semifinal.

This innings also marks a special milestone for New Zealand, as it is only the second time in their history that they have scored over 300 runs against South Africa. The last time they achieved this was just last month at the same venue, when they chased down 305 runs in a tri-series match.

New Zealand’s innings also saw a rare feat—two centurions in the same match. Both Rachin Ravindra and captain Kane Williamson scored centuries, making it just the sixth time in Champions Trophy history that two batters from the same team reached three figures in a single innings.

Previously, this feat was achieved by:
• Sourav Ganguly & Virender Sehwag (India, 2002)
• Chris Gayle & Dwayne Bravo (West Indies, 2006)
• Ricky Ponting & Shane Watson (Australia, 2009)
• Shakib Al Hasan & Mahmudullah (Bangladesh, 2017)
• Will Young & Tom Latham (New Zealand, 2025)
