On the Asia Cup Final: “We will not think about anything outside cricket” – Pakistan head coach

The Asia Cup will conclude on September 28, with archrivals India and Pakistan set to face off in the final. For the first time in the history of the Asia Cup, the two teams will meet in the title clash. This will also be the third meeting between India and Pakistan in this edition. In the previous two encounters, Pakistan were no match for India, as Suryakumar Yadav’s side dominated and secured convincing victories.

However, Pakistan’s head coach Mike Hesson has said that they already have a blueprint to defeat India in the final.

After beating Bangladesh to reach the final, he said, “I have told the players to focus only on their game. We only think about cricket—that is our job. An India–Pakistan match always comes with extra pressure and excitement. Because of that, some controversies may arise on the field. But we will not think about anything outside cricket.”

Confident about overcoming India in the final, the Pakistan coach added, “We have reached the final on merit. Now our task is to make the most of it. We have a blueprint to beat India, and we must execute it on the field.”

“We have the opportunity to win the trophy—that is our goal. We will try to give our very best in that match.”
