Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan & Mirza Shine in 74-Run Rout, But Series Slips Away

Dhaka, July 25, 2025 – Bangladesh have made cricket history by winning their first-ever T20 International series against Pakistan, clinching a 2–1 victory despite Pakistan’s strong finish in the last match. The hosts had sealed the series with wins in the first two games, before Pakistan salvaged pride with a dominant 74‑run win in the final T20 at Sher‑e‑Bangla Stadium .

In the third match, Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan starred with a brisk 41‑ball 63 (five sixes, six fours), while Salman Mirza claimed 3‑19 to bowl Bangladesh out for 104 in just 16.4 overs. Pakistan posted 178‑7 in response, with Hasan Nawaz adding a quickfire 33 off 17 balls. Mohammad Naim was the only other Bangladeshi to reach double figures, scoring just 10, while opener Tanzid Tamim was dismissed for a duck as Bangladesh’s top order crumbled.

Bangladesh captain Litton Das, who opted to bowl first and rotated five players to test his bench strength, admitted that the replacements failed to deliver the expected impact in the final match. However, he remained proud of the overall outcome, hailing it as a significant milestone for the side.

This triumph follows Bangladesh’s recent T20I series win in Sri Lanka, making it their second consecutive series victory. In Sri Lanka, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Mahedi Hasan starred in a series-deciding chase to seal an 8-wicket win, marking Bangladesh’s first T20I series victory on Sri Lankan soil .

Despite Pakistan’s late surge, Bangladesh’s resilience and bench performance earned them a historic series victory and reinforced their growing stature in T20 cricket.
