Rangpur Division had already secured their spot in the final of the National Cricket League (NCL) T20 by defeating Dhaka Metro. Now, Dhaka Metro has joined them in the title clash by beating Khulna by 38 runs in the second qualifier. As a result, Rangpur and Dhaka Metro will face off once again in the final.
On Sunday, December 22, at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Dhaka Metro won the toss and chose to bat first. Powered by a half-century from Naim Sheikh, they posted 119 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Naim scored 57 runs off 53 balls.
Chasing a modest target of 120, Khulna’s innings faced early setbacks thanks to left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan and off-spinners Mosaddek Hossain Saikat and Aliss Al Islam, who proved unplayable.
Khulna suffered a batting collapse, losing six wickets for just 50 runs. Pacers Maruf Mridha and Abu Hider Rony also bowled effectively to support the spinners. Eventually, Khulna was bundled out for 81 runs. Mosaddek Hossain was the standout bowler for Dhaka Metro, taking 3 wickets for just 13 runs.
