Regarding the Faruque-Fahim dispute, Sujon’s comment: “The matter is becoming one of greed and selfishness.”

The recent clash between two key figures of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Faruque Ahmed (the current BCB President) and Nazmul Abedeen Fahim (a director), has sparked controversy and drawn criticism from former national cricket captain Khaled Mahmud Sujon. Sujon, currently coaching Dhaka Capitals in the ongoing BPL, voiced his disappointment over the matter during a press conference on Monday, January 6.

The tension became public after Fahim alleged in a television interview that he was being treated disrespectfully and was unable to work independently in the BCB. Fahim even hinted at resigning if not appointed as the Operations Committee Chairman, which has been a contentious issue.

Sujon, who addressed the situation, criticized Fahim’s stance and suggested that his demands reflected greed and selfishness. “Why should there be ego problems between Faruque Bhai and Fahim Bhai? Both came into the board with commitments to develop cricket. Now it seems to be turning into greed. If you are not given a specific position, you won’t work? That’s not right,” Sujon remarked.

He expressed his dismay, adding, “When I see such attitudes, it saddens me. These are respected figures and former cricketers. But their behavior makes me ashamed as a cricketer. Are we cricketers this greedy?”

Sujon emphasized that true commitment to cricket involves contributing regardless of the position held, urging senior figures like Faruque and Fahim to rise above personal ambitions for the betterment of the game.
