In September’s FIFA window, Bangladesh will play two friendly matches against Nepal. The training camp for the two matches in Kathmandu officially began on Wednesday, although only five players joined on the opening day. The preliminary squad includes Hamza Dewan Choudhury, who plays in England’s Championship, but will not feature Canada-based Samit Som.
The two friendlies against Nepal are scheduled for September 6 and 9 in Kathmandu. Meanwhile, Samit has matches on September 6 and 14, which is why the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is not bringing the Canadian league player for these games. Bangladesh head coach Javier Cabrera has yet to finalize the squad for the two matches.
There had been discussions that Hamza might not be included in the September window’s friendly matches, but on Wednesday, in a message from the BFF, national team manager Amer Khan confirmed:
“The coach’s preliminary list of 24 players includes Hamza. A letter has already been sent to his club, Leicester City. Discussions between the federation and his club are ongoing to bring Hamza in September.”
Regarding Samit, Amer Khan said:
“Samit has club football matches in September. For that reason, he has not been included in the preliminary list for the September window.”
For now, only five players have joined the camp. AFC Challenge League players from Abahani are expected to join on Thursday, while Bashundhara Kings players are set to join on Friday.
