Bangladesh’s iconic all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan delivered a historic performance yesterday while playing for the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in the Caribbean Premier League at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua. The veteran left-hander reached a rare landmark by becoming the first cricketer in T20 history to combine more than 500 wickets and 7,000 runs across formats. His milestone came during a commanding display against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, where Shakib once again proved why he is regarded as one of the finest all-rounders in modern cricket. With the ball, he produced a game-changing spell, finishing with outstanding figures of 3 wickets for just 11 runs in two overs, dismantling the opposition’s middle order and putting the Falcons firmly in control. Later, with the bat, he added a quickfire 25 runs, ensuring his side stayed on course in the chase. The Falcons eventually sealed victory by seven wickets with two balls to spare, and Shakib’s decisive contribution earned him the Player of the Match award—the 44th of his T20 career, equalling Andre Russell’s tally in franchise cricket. Since making his debut in 2006, Shakib has consistently balanced both batting and bowling responsibilities for club and country, and this achievement underscores his extraordinary longevity, versatility, and commitment. His all-round brilliance continues to inspire fans worldwide, while cementing his legacy as one of cricket’s true greats.
