The war between India and Pakistan has affected the franchise cricket leagues of both countries. The Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) were both suspended. A ceasefire was declared between the two nations yesterday, bringing the possibility of resuming the PSL back into discussion. Initially, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to move the remaining matches of the PSL to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, that plan could not be implemented. Consequently, the entire tournament was postponed indefinitely.
Now, instead of Dubai, former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali has advised the PCB to consider hosting the remaining part of the PSL in Bangladesh. He said, “If any issues arise during the tournament, please don’t move it to Dubai. Consider Bangladesh, where even club matches draw spectators to the stadiums. Hosting it there would also be financially beneficial for the PCB.”
It is still unknown when the PSL will resume. Eight matches remain in this year’s PSL. The PCB has already instructed franchises to keep foreign players ready in Dubai and local players prepared in their respective countries. However, despite the ceasefire, analysts believe that due to the lingering regional tension, it may take some more time to reach a final decision.
