Suryavanshi breaks Shanto’s record with explosive batting

In almost every match, someone is setting or breaking a record—and this time, it’s Suryavanshi rewriting history. A few days ago, Vaibhav Suryavanshi had come very close to breaking Najmul Hossain Shanto’s world record. Shanto held the record for the youngest century in Youth ODIs, scoring a hundred at the age of 14 years and 241 days. Playing against England, the Indian teenage sensation had earlier scored 86 off just 31 balls, nearly touching that milestone.

Now, Suryavanshi has officially broken Shanto’s record. Representing India U-19 against England U-19 on Saturday, he played a phenomenal innings of 143 runs off 78 balls. He reached his century in just 52 deliveries—the fastest century in Youth ODI history.

At just 14 years and 100 days old, Suryavanshi shattered Shanto’s record of being the youngest centurion in Youth ODIs.

Despite this historic innings, Suryavanshi remained humble. “I didn’t know I had broken a record after scoring the century. Our manager, Ankit Sir, told me later. There’s no special celebration,” he said. Still, he’s now being hailed as the next big star of Indian cricket.
