“Sylhet’s wicket is ideal for both batsmen and bowlers.”

The biggest cricket event in Asia, the Asia Cup, will begin on September 9 in the desert. Ahead of the tournament, Bangladesh is hosting the Netherlands to fine-tune their preparations.

On August 30, the first of the three-match T20I series will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The remaining two matches of the series will be held at the same venue on September 1 and 3.

Speaking at the official press conference before the series on Thursday, Bangladesh captain Liton Das said:
“The wicket in Sylhet is ideal for both batsmen and bowlers. We might get similar conditions in Abu Dhabi as well. Our players already know what kind of conditions to expect here. We will try to use the match conditions to produce results. Scoring 200–250 runs is a matter of habit. Even if we can’t, we’ll try to reach that consistency.”

Liton further said:
“They are used to playing on good wickets. It will be a challenge for both teams. Before the Asia Cup, if we can test a few players, we will.”

The captain also added:
“In today’s cricket, fitness is extremely important. The fitness training in Dhaka will come in handy. There was something new in the power-hitting sessions, but nothing happens in just a day or two. It takes time. Every player plays in their own pattern. They are trying to bring something different within that. Hopefully, from this series, we’ll be able to take something good for the Asia Cup.”
