Tamim is a Smoker, but it is Harmful to His Health – Dr. Shahabuddin Talukder

Last Monday, Tamim Iqbal came dangerously close to death. For 22 minutes, he had no heartbeat. After receiving medical treatment, he is now close to returning to normal life. Since suffering a heart attack, Tamim has been in the hospital. However, hospital authorities have confirmed that he will be able to return home before Eid.

Dr. Shahabuddin Talukder, who is overseeing Tamim’s treatment, made a startling revelation. He stated that Tamim is a smoker, which is harmful to his health.

In a press conference today, Dr. Shahabuddin Talukder said, “Now, what will happen is rehabilitation—risk factor mitigation. He has certain risk factors. He is a smoker. He has to quit smoking. And he needs to control obesity. Gradually, he will recover. Quitting smoking suddenly… at first, he said he wouldn’t be able to quit.”

Tamim was also advised against using vaping as an alternative to smoking. The doctor added, “Later, he said he would quit gradually and switch to vaping. But I told him no, he cannot vape either. Vaping increases the risk of cancer. Then this morning, he understood. I suggested nicotine patches or nicotine gum, and he accepted that. He wants to smoke, but we are not allowing him because smoking could cause the same ventricular tachycardia problem (VTP) that he previously suffered from.”

Evercare Hospital’s Medical Services Director, Arif Mahmud, was also present at the press briefing. He confirmed that Tamim would be able to return home soon.
