The Asia Cup will be held from September 9 to 28.

Putting an end to all speculations, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) was held in Dhaka. Even after the meeting, some complications remained. However, overcoming all obstacles, ACC President Mohsin Naqvi has officially announced the final schedule for the Asia Cup. The upcoming tournament will begin on September 9, with the final scheduled for September 28.

Originally, this edition of the Asia Cup was supposed to be held in India. However, the ACC has decided to move it. While India will remain the host of the tournament, it will now be played in the United Arab Emirates. In preparation for next year’s T20 World Cup, this edition of the Asia Cup will follow the T20 format.

On X (formerly Twitter), Naqvi wrote: “I am pleased to confirm that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Men’s Asia Cup 2025 will be held in the United Arab Emirates. This prestigious tournament will take place from September 9 to 28. We look forward to a spectacular display of cricket! The detailed schedule will be announced very soon.”

A total of eight teams will participate in this year’s Asia Cup. Among ICC full-member nations, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan will take part. Additionally, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Hong Kong will also participate in the tournament.

The most high-voltage clash of the Asia Cup — between arch-rivals India and Pakistan — has yet to be scheduled. Due to ongoing political and diplomatic tensions between the two countries, uncertainty remains regarding the match.

Recently, in the World Championship of Legends tournament, the India Champions team refused to play against the Pakistan Champions team, which led to the match being canceled. As a result, there are some concerns about the India-Pakistan match in this Asia Cup, although both teams are confirmed to participate in the tournament.
