The mascot for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), named ‘Dana 36’, was officially unveiled, signaling a fresh approach for the 11th edition of the country’s only franchise T20 tournament. The unveiling took place on Sunday, December 1, at Hotel InterContinental during the launch event of “Festival of Youth for Building a New Bangladesh—2025”.
Key Highlights:
- Symbolism of the Mascot:
The mascot features wings on both sides and a dove’s face in the center, symbolizing peace and aspiration.
This is the first time a mascot has been introduced for the BPL, along with a new theme song.
- Inspiration from Student Movements:
The concept reflects the spirit of the student protests in July-August, aiming to engage the youth and the public more deeply.
A minute of silence was observed to honor the martyrs of those protests during the event.
- Dignitaries Present:
The launch was attended by Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Youth and Sports Advisor, who served as the chief guest.
Other notable attendees included BCB President Faruq Ahmed, Youth and Sports Ministry Secretary Md. Rezaul Maksud Jahedi, and SDG Coordinator Lamya Morshed, along with several national cricketers from both the men’s and women’s teams.
This initiative highlights the BPL’s attempt to foster youth engagement and national unity, introducing a novel and symbolic identity to the tournament.
