The drama surrounding the punishment of Towhid Hridoy shows no sign of ending. Now, former Bangladesh cricket team captain Tamim Iqbal has joined the conversation.
On Friday (April 25), Tamim, along with several other cricketers, met with BCB President Faruk Ahmed at the BCB headquarters in Mirpur. Also present at the meeting were two board directors — Head of Cricket Operations Nazmul Abedin and Head of Umpires and Media Committee Iftekhar Rahman.
Speaking to the media after the discussion, Tamim said, “Today, we are all gathered here for a reason. Certain incidents over the past two, three, or four months have occurred, which have left every player with questions and disappointment. I can share two or three points with you. First of all, there was an on-field incident involving Towhid Hridoy.”
He continued, “Initially, Hridoy was given a two-match suspension. At the time, no player or anyone else commented on it. We didn’t say anything about it. A few days later, the suspension was reduced to one match. This was done by the BCB, and still, we didn’t say anything. But now, suddenly, another suspension has been given. I don’t know under what rule or how this is being done. This is very ridiculous — this can in no way be considered a suspension.”
