In their official warm-up match for the Champions Trophy, Bangladesh started well. However, after the dismissals of Soumya Sarkar and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the Tigers’ batting lineup collapsed. Veteran batters like Mushfiqur Rahim and Zakir Ali couldn’t withstand the pressure from Pakistan Shaheens’ bowlers. Bangladesh was bowled out for 202 runs with 70 balls to spare.
On Monday (February 17) at the Dubai Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and elected to bat first. However, opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim was dismissed early for just 6 runs.
Shanto, who came to the crease next, tried to stabilize the innings with Soumya. But at the team score of 50, Shanto departed after scoring 12 runs off 21 balls. Shortly after, Soumya was also dismissed, having scored 35 runs off 38 balls.
Following that, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Towhid Hridoy formed a 56-run partnership. However, the batting order crumbled soon after. Hridoy scored 20, Mushfiqur Rahim 7, Miraz 44, Zakir Ali 4, and Rishad Hossain 14 runs before getting out.
Towards the end, quick contributions from Tanzim Sakib (30 off 27 balls) and Taskin Ahmed (15 off 16 balls) helped Bangladesh cross the 200-run mark. Ultimately, the Tigers were bowled out for 202 runs in 38.2 overs.
