Bangladesh faced a must-win situation in the second Test match to save the series against the West Indies. After losing the first match, the Tigers bounced back in the Jamaica Test with a convincing 110-run victory, led by Taijul Islam’s brilliant spin bowling. This win marked Bangladesh’s first Test victory in the West Indies in 15 years, ending the two-match series in a 1-1 draw.
In the Jamaica Test, Bangladesh was bowled out for 164 runs in their first innings. In reply, the West Indies were restricted to 146 runs, thanks to Nahid Rana’s five-wicket haul, giving Bangladesh a slender 18-run lead. In the second innings, Bangladesh managed to score 268 runs, with Zakir Ali playing a heroic knock of 91 runs, narrowly missing a century. He hit five sixes and eight fours, helping set a target of 287 runs for the hosts.
Chasing 287, the West Indies were off to a shaky start, losing two early wickets to Taijul Islam and Taskin Ahmed. Mikyle Louis scored 6, while Keacy Carty managed 14. However, Kavem Hodge (55) and Kraigg Brathwaite (43) steadied the innings before Taijul dismissed both, turning the match in Bangladesh’s favor.
After their departure, no other West Indies batter could settle, and the team was bowled out for 185 in 50 overs. Taijul Islam claimed five wickets, while Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud picked up two wickets each. Bangladesh’s comprehensive win ensured a drawn series, showcasing a commendable team effort.
