The group “We Are BNP Family” has come forward to support Bhujopoti Chakma, the cancer-stricken mother of national women’s football team player and “Golden Girl” Rituparna Chakma.
Following the directive of BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, a delegation from the organization visited the remote hilly village of Magachhari in Kawkhali Upazila of Rangamati on Wednesday morning to meet with her.
The delegation was led by Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General and the chief advisor of “We Are BNP Family.” He handed over medical assistance to Bhujopoti Chakma and conveyed condolences and well wishes on behalf of Tarique Rahman. Among others present were the organization’s convener Atiqur Rahman Ruman and several others.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said,
“We will bear all of Ritu’s mother’s medical expenses.”
He also handed over a sum of 2 lakh BDT on behalf of BNP Family and Rangamati District BNP to Rituparna’s mother.

From the local level, Rangamati District BNP President Dipan Talukder Dipu and others were also present.
It is worth mentioning that Rituparna Chakma’s father Boroj Banshi Chakma died of cancer in 2015. Inspired by her father, she developed an interest in football. Besides sports, Rituparna is currently a student of the Department of Philosophy at Dhaka University.
She recently played a key role in the national team’s success in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers by scoring three goals against Myanmar and Turkmenistan.
